Advanced Single Electric Breast Pump Use
Make sure the valve and teal diaphragm are installed to the bottom.
Before installing the motor, make sure the diaphragm (which looks like a small medicine cup) is installed to the back.
When assembling the motor, place the top of the motor on top of the diaphragm and pull down firmly on the motor. This helps the motor "click" into place. If you do not feel or hear a click, place your thumb on the bottom and wrap your fingers around the back of the motor and squeeze.
Turn the motor on to check that it is properly installed. The diaphragm should be able to squeeze and release. If not, leave the motor "on" and reinstall, again squeezing the bottom with your fingers from the back of the motor toward your thumb. The motor is properly activated when you see the diaphragm move. Turn the motor off.

When you are ready to express, hold the breast pump by the flanges. Your fingertips will help ensure the flanges are in close contact with the sides of your breasts. Hold the flanges firmly while you express. Do not hold the breast pump by the motor or bottle - this may cause the motor to fall out during expression.
